Hey there! This is Maria!

I was born and raised in the southern suburbs of Athens in Greece. I finished my studies and obtained a master degree in Geotechnical engineering and another one in Civil engineering both from the National Technical University of Athens. This academic path led me towards my further specialization in interior architectural design and decoration at the Athens College (HAEF).

I worked many years in the field of architectural design, construction as well as interior design of luxurious seafront residences in the Athenian riviera. At the same time, I had the opportunity to teach architectural design in the educational programs of the Athens College.

Since I was a little girl, I remember being deeply in love to the beauty existing around us, the perfection (at least in my eyes), the harmony in space and the pairing of colours and materials. My two main directions that have always characterized me as a person and as a personality, are my talent and performance in mathematics and geometry, as well as my inclination towards children; to teach them, to be surrounded by them, to dedicate myself to them. If you ask me, what I have always wanted from my life, the answer is one, to be a mom!

In 2012, love led me to Switzerland and Zürich, where I built my family and was blessed with two daughters. During my beginnings in Zürich, I worked as a civil engineer in a construction company and participated in several drawing and painting seminars from the Schule für Kunst und Design Zürich and continued my education in Interior design and consulting. After becoming a mom, the bug to create my own fairy tale in my own aesthetic terms, couldn’t be withheld any further. That’s when Inspiration Tales was born!

In 2021, we moved to Horgen with my family and I found my heart in this town. Having grown up next to the Aegean sea, with the privilege to admire and be surrounded by THE blue everyday, I couldn’t stand being far from the element of water. In Horgen, I found my completion. It was inevitable, then, to dedicate my next professional steps in this town, with a view of the blue-green Zürichsee, and to open the physical boutique of Inspiration Tales… by the lake!

As a person, I love to paint or as I like to call it “play with colours” and create or re-construct by hand any object that can be improved and fit more harmoniously in its space. I also love tennis and ballet (that’s why I created two ballerinas 😉), but nothing surpasses my love for my two daughters, Nefeli and Lida!
